Buttermilk Scones
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
5 tablespoons shortening
3/4 cups butter milk
Mix together dry ingredients. With a pastry cutter, cut in shortening. Add buttermilk and mix with fork. Form into a ball. On a floured surface, roll out dough about 1/2" thick. Cut into triangle shapes. Place on greased baking sheet. bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes.
I have to say, these were delicious. Tasted like homemade biscuits and I will be making these again.
