Around the World Week - Grocery List

Around the World Grocery List:

I have to say, this has been interesting. I've had some keeper recipes and some not so much. But, I love to turn something not so good into something tasty. Maybe I did one wrong, but it sure was fun learning different recipes from around. I have to say Europe was the hardest to decide on, so many different cultures and foods to decide on. Maybe after the first of the year, I can experiment with European foods.

American Hamburger
1.5 pounds hamburger meat, I used 80/20 on the fat content
1/2 teaspoon ground thyme
1 teaspoon salt and black pepper
American Cheese
Tomato, Onion and Mayo
 
Australia:
Recipe for Lilydale Chicken and Mushroom Pie:
Serves 6
Cooking and Preparation Time:
45 minutes
Ingredients:
1 packet Lilydale Chicken Thigh Fillets, diced into 3cm cubes - I used 4 chicken thighs
2 tablespoons plain flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1 onion, chopped
1/2 leek, white part only, chopped
200g field or Swiss brown mushrooms, chopped - I used 1.5 pounds sliced mushrooms
1 tablespoon mixed herbs (thyme, sage, parsley, rosemary & chives)
60 ml white wine -I didn't use this - didn't have any
3/4 cup pouring cream - heavy cream
1 cup chicken stock
2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
Sea salt and black pepper
1 egg, whisked with 2 tablespoons milk

Africa Carne Stew
2 pounds cubed beef - marinated in 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar, 2 bay leaf's, 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic, 1 teaspoon salt and black pepper; overnight in a sealed container.
2 white potatoes, peeled and diced
2 mandioca root (yucca root), peeled and diced
2 yams (couldn't find the white, so I used sweet potatoes), peeled and diced
3 green bananas, peeled and diced
2 onions, peeled and diced
 
South American Hot Chocolate (With Chillies)
Milk
red chilies
200 g waitrose continental chocolate, broken into small pieces (if you can find it, if not I will buy any chocolate)
heavy cream

Chinese - Ground Beef Fried Rice
1/2 pound ground beef
soy sauce
Chinese rice wine
cornstarch
vegetable oil
ginger
onion
curry powder
rice
frozen peas
shredded carrot
1 egg
green onions

Europe - French Cassoulet
1/2 pound boneless pork loin, cooked and diced
1/2 pound lean smoked sausage, diced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 yellow onion
1 red bell pepper
2 cloves garlic
4-15 ounce can navy beans
dried thyme
14.5 ounce diced tomatoes
1 cup chicken broth
salt and black pepper
2 cups whole-grain bread crumbs
